What to Expect at Your Notary Appointment
The requirements depend on the document and how it will be used. In most cases, you will need to provide valid government-issued identification and bring the original document or documents requiring notarization. If your signature must be witnessed or an affidavit must be sworn or affirmed, do not sign the document in advance. We will review the document, verify your identity, and complete the required notarization or commissioning.

Affidavits & Certified Copies
More Than Notarization
Some notary matters require more than witnessing a signature. Gur & Gur Law can prepare and commission affidavits and statutory declarations, including OSAP affidavits relating to marital or family status and other matters where a sworn or affirmed statement is required.
We also certify true copies of original documents. You must generally provide the original document so that it can be compared with the copy before it is certified as a true copy of the original.

Notarization & Apostille Assistance
Documents intended for use outside Canada may need to be notarized or apostilled before they are accepted abroad. Requirements vary depending on the document and destination country. We can assist with the necessary document preparation and notarization and, where requested, arrange for eligible documents to be submitted for apostille.
Preparing Documents for Apostille
We can review the requirements, complete any necessary notarization, and prepare your documents for apostille. If requested, we can also arrange for eligible documents to be submitted for apostille on your behalf.
Ontario Divorce Documents for Use Abroad
If you need proof of an Ontario divorce for use in another country, we can obtain your Certificate of Divorce (Form 36B), complete any required notarization, and arrange for the document to be apostilled where required.
