Biography
Yanki Gur is the Co-Founder and Principal Family Lawyer of Gur & Gur Law. She approaches family law with a clear focus on what comes next. While separation can be one of the most difficult periods in a person’s life, Yanki sees it as a transition that, when handled thoughtfully, can lead to greater stability and a more fulfilling chapter of life.
Yanki began her legal education more than 12 years ago, and law has been at the centre of her professional life ever since. She earned her law degree from Istanbul University while gaining practical experience in law offices, and later continued her legal education at Osgoode Hall Law School, completing both the Graduate Diploma in Foundations of Canadian Law and a Master’s in Canadian Common Law before qualifying as a Barrister & Solicitor in Ontario. She went on to co-found Gur & Gur Law and build a practice focused exclusively on family law.
Her work extends beyond her own practice. Yanki is actively engaged in the legal community through professional associations, legal writing, conferences, charitable work, and other professional and community initiatives. She values remaining connected to the profession and contributing to the broader community.
Known for her sharp analytical mind and quick wit, Yanki brings perspective and precision to her work. She has a particular ability to identify the issues that matter in a complicated dispute and separate them from the noise that often surrounds family litigation. Her advice is practical, straightforward, and focused on moving matters forward.
Determination has been a defining feature of Yanki’s professional life. She brings that same persistence to her clients’ files whether negotiating a separation agreement, resolving parenting or financial issues, or advocating in court.
